I am applying for the filmmaking course at Kingston University because I am very passionate about film and my interest grows daily as I expose myself to new media and how it has developed over the years. Looking at the course it seems to be very practical which is what I am looking for because I enjoy the whole process of filmmaking. As well as looking at the theoretical side, I am more drawn to the practical part because it enables me to put the skills I have to work. My dream is to go back home and work within the film industry in Nigeria, despite the fact that Nigeria's film industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, it lacks a few things such as the right skills and equipment needed to make a movie and also the quality and quantity it is being produced in. I believe your university will give me the necessary skills to be a part of filmmaking. I have been taking art classes from a very young age and I think I have picked up a fair amount of skills in painting and drawing. During A levels, I took media as a subject and since then I have taken part in a few productions, which involved editing, scriptwriting, directing and camera work. My experience in both art and media has made me come to a certain realization that those two subjects come hand in hand as they both have a creative approach to life and by having experience in both subjects I believe I am on the right path of becoming a successful film maker.
